Yakima - N. 1st St. Revitalization Ph. 2

J Street to N Street

The City of Yakima desired to revitalize the northern section of North 1st Street into the downtown area. The project improves safety for drivers and pedestrians and is intended to increase the economic development potential of the North 1st Street corridor, one of the main entrances into the City. Elements of the project included new asphalt pavement and pavement markings, curb and gutter, enhanced street and pedestrian lighting, landscaping, irrigation, median islands, decorative sidewalks with ADA compliant ramps, and other street amenities.

Traffic control was a key piece of the project as it was necessary to keep at least one lane of traffic open in each direction during construction.

Hough Beck & Baird Inc., provided the landscape architecture design, and Connetix Engineering, Inc. provided electrical design support for the project.

HLA services included funding application assistance, topographic survey, subconsultant coordination, environmental compliance and permitting, design, plans, specifications, bidding assistance, construction observation and administration, and project closeout.
