This improvement project featured the construction of a new sewer lift pump station, including a duplex submersible pump with 300 gpm design capacity, and a force main to serve the East Cle Elum area. For ease of maintenance, a valve vault was provided separate from the wet well, and the controls were located in a stainless steel cabinet adjacent to the station. Piping and valves were configured to allow for emergency bypass pumping. Work included 16 manholes, asphalt pavement and gravel repair, and side sewer stubouts. Due to a requirement by the Washington State Department of Transportation, it was necessary to bore a casing pipe under SR903 for the sewer forcemain rather than cut the recently completed asphalt overlay of the highway.
HLA provided a preliminary engineering study report, assisted with preparation of a funding application to Kittitas County, and provided surveying, design, plans, specifications, estimates, services during construction, and funding agency coordination.
